Networked medicine could soon be a reality for hospitals, doctors and patients across the world.
The Matrix Medical Network will be the first of its kind, providing access to the latest in medical technology, including internet access.
The network, which will be launched in Australia by Matrix Healthcare, will provide medical professionals with access to medical devices and medical diagnostics.
The organisation will also be a key provider of high-speed internet access to its healthcare network, helping to connect patients with healthcare professionals in a more secure environment.

“With our network and our highly-skilled workforce, we can help patients with serious medical conditions to access the best care possible.”
The network will provide access to a range of medical devices, including devices for heart, kidney, respiratory and cardiac surgery, orthopaedic and rehabilitation services.
“Patients and their families will be able to access medical equipment and services they need with the convenience of their home or office, or with our high-performance mobile phone network,” Mr Gower continued.
“Our network will be an integral part of the Matrix medical team’s mission to create an open, safe, and secure healthcare environment.”
Matrix is an international network of healthcare providers.
It was founded in 2012 by Dr Andrew Gower, a GP in Adelaide, Australia, and Mr Andrew Smedley, an assistant clinical professor at the University of Adelaide.
It is backed by the US-based Matrix Foundation and a group of venture capitalists.
The medical network will have a total capacity of about 4,000 users, with a target of 50,000 patients.
Matrix currently has about 1,400 members in Australia and more than 1,000 worldwide.
It will be available to members of the public on the Matryx website from Monday, August 25.

Dr Gower says it is critical to provide the most up-to-date information, and the Matrix Health Network is designed to provide that.
“For many patients, the internet is a key part of their health care,” he said.
Matria Healthcare, which is a joint venture between Matrix and Matrix Medicine, will be a major provider of medical device information to the Matrinx Healthcare network.
The partnership will provide internet access for all the health care devices and diagnostics it sells, as well as medical equipment, such as radiography equipment, CT scans and X-rays.
Dr Smedys medical devices will be connected to the network through a high-capacity fibre-optic cable.
“It’s important for us to provide high-end services for our patients and our members, and this will allow us to do so,” he added.
The new Matrix health network will also provide information on the most common health conditions.
Matronx Health will be used to provide healthcare services for people living in remote areas.
“The Matrix network will help people who have some form of chronic disease in their area, such, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, or some other medical condition, access the most relevant health services,” Mr Smedleys Chief Executive, Andrew Smeedley said.
